Menus form the main navigation of any Joomla powered website.

A Menu is the most popular and standard way to publish content - a Menu is a set of Menu items used for website navigation.

In Joomla you can have just one Menu or hundreds of Menus - depending on the needs and requirements of your website.

Each Menu Item defines a URL to a page on your website, and holds settings that control the contents such as articles, category(ies) lists, tagged items and style such as module(s) and layout of that page.

In Joomla, you must have at least one Menu and you must have at least one Menu item within that Menu.

You can have one or multiple 'visible' Menus as well as 'Hidden' Menus.

Hidden Menus can be used to create URLs that are not visible on any page within menus.

For example, a hidden menu can be very useful if we want to create a single article page, with a custom URL, and specific content settings - for example layout and Modules, that could be accessible through another page such as an Article, Blog Category, or Module but we don't want to display a Menu Item for it anywhere on our Menus.

Specifically on UsingJoomla.com we have a custom error-404 page assigned to a hidden Menu - this is a page you will see when you mistype a UsingJoomla.com url or the target url has been moved.

Your default installation of Joomla will contain a Menu with the sample data - but whether you use that specific Menu or create your own Menu(s) is your choice.

Each Menu will contain one (or more) Menu item(s)

List UJA Menu item can include the following item types
