Your Joomla Privacy Component - sometimes referred to as the 'Privacy Suite' is aimed at going at least some way to comply with User Privacy - and various Data Protection laws - such as the EU GDPR General Data Protection Regulation.
The Privacy Component is used to manage privacy information, to gather requests for information and / or requests to have information deleted.
The Privacy Component is based on email addresses so applies to registered users who must supply an email address during registration. This also applies to data on unregistered users whose email addresses are supplied via your Contacts component.
Of note - this Component does not implement the permission to use cookies or tracking required by some laws / regulations
The Privacy Dashboard provides a summary of the site Privacy Requests and Privacy Status.
This Component - the Privacy Component - includes five Plugins
- Privacy - Action Logs
- Privacy - Contacts
- Privacy - Content
- Privacy - User Accounts
- Privacy - User Messages
Let us very briefly go through each of those in turn.
Privacy - Action Logs - this Plugin is responsible for exporting the action log data for a user's privacy request.
Privacy - Contacts - this Plugin processes privacy related requests for the core Joomla contact data.
Privacy - Content - this Plugin is used to handle the Privacy data for Joomla content.
Privacy - User Accounts - this Plugin processes Privacy related requests.
Privacy - User Messages - this Plugin processes Privacy related requests for the core Joomla user messages data.
The Privacy Component includes three Administrator Modules
- Admin Module - Privacy Dashboard
- Admin Module - Privacy Requests
- Admin Module - Privacy Status

Module - Privacy Dashboard - this is an 'Administrator Module' which places a Privacy Panel / Dashboard within the Administrator Home dashboard.
